In the past few weeks there have been a ton of new additions to the 0.9.0 update. Changes such as villagers, endermen, infinite worlds, and caves. A full list after the break. Continue reading
A quick little update after a while of no real news. Tommaso has finished adding caves to 0.9.0 and is working on increasing the performance of the game right now. The addition of infinite worlds slows the game down a bit with terrain generation, but he states that it is currently as fast as 0.8.0 if you’re standing still.
Jeb, on the other hand, tweeted that they are aiming to have skins added in for the 0.9.0 update. This really comes as no surprise since we already suspected that player skins would eventually be added to the game, just like in the PC and Xbox 360 versions.
Not much news about the upcoming updates lately, but we finally have some more information about 0.9.0. Jeb recently tweeted that boats will probably be in the 0.9.0 update. This makes sense because oceans in an infinite world would be frustrating to navigate without a boat. It’s nice to see that more is going to be added to this update.
After he was asked about when the update would be released, Tommaso tweeted that the 0.9.0 MCPE update is more likely to be released in quarter 2 of 2014. This means the update could possibly be released sometime between April and June. Tommaso continues to mention that the beta might be out in the first quarter of the year, so we’ve got that to look forward to.
Go update your devices, because the 0.8.0 Minecraft Pocket Edition update has been released. Feel free to share any thoughts and pictures in the comments.
Skinning the way your character looks might possibly be included in the upcoming 0.9.0 update if Jeb and crew can figure out a way for it to work similarly to the PC version. He responded to a tweet about this just yesterday:
Jeb tweeted that most biomes will probably be added in the 0.9.0 update, which would include jungles and roofed forests. It makes sense with the infinite world size and the addition of the different types of wood into creative.
I got into the test group for the upcoming 0.8.0 update and I’m currently playing around with 0.8.0 alpha. Here are two screenshots for now.
Johan tweeted a picture of working minecarts earlier today. We have no information as to which upcoming update these will be in, but it’s still exciting.
We’ve got a few more updates on 0.8.0 and 0.9.0 to share. Pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns will be in 0.8.0, but without the ability to wear pumpkins as a helmet. Johan himself stated that “They will not be wearable for now. They will be rotatable and craftable to jack o’lanterns. There are no endermens yet. :)” Continue reading
